Dragon Ball Heroes series is an anime adaptation of the Dragon Ball Heroes card game which became very popular amongst Japanese fans from its start back in 2010. The Anime adaptation of the game was created by Toei Animation back in 2018 to promote the game back in the Japanese market.
It all starts with Goku, Vegeta, and Future Mai getting informed about the captivity of Future Trunks in a distant planet called the prison planet where prisoners from other worlds are held captive. After the events of the power tournament, they decide to release Future Trunks from the captivity in prison planet who is run by Cooler, the brother of Frieza.
Later, after they manage to release Future Trunks from the captivity of Cooler, they find out that the events are controlled by a powerful entity called the mastermind of hearts, who has a cyborg Zamasu as his second in his Grand plan to destroy the Prison Planet from existence and finish off Zeno and his allies in the process.
Luckily, they manage to survive the attack, and Goku gets revived by the Grand Minister on reaching Beerus, who then trains Goku to keep his ultra instinct up. Meanwhile, in-universe 11 hearts plant a universal seed to drain the power from all the other worlds while sending an army to invade universe 3 and 6.
The android brother Oren and Kamin invade universe 6 where Trunks and other fighters confront them before they fuse into Kamioren and Cooler who fuses into meta-cooler. Vegeta comes to the rescue defeating Kamioren while Goku reaches universe 11 with his ultra instincts, only to realize his power is not enough to defeat hearts.
So, Goku manages to get Vegeta to fuse with him into Gogeta, who unleashes the power of Super Saiyan blue to illuminate hearts for once and for all.
Dragon Ball Heroes is an anime adaption of the most famous Japanese card game with the same name. Dragon Ball Heroes game was released all the way back in the year 2010 and till today it remains one of the most popular card games of all time in Japan with millions of active players, earning billions in gross revenue.
The Anime adaptation of the game was also directed by Akira Toriyama in the year 2018 and since then only 22 episodes have been released so far out of which there are no reported Dragon Ball Heroes fillers. Unlike any other Dragon Ball series, this one is more comical and fast-paced than a story-based one.
It all starts from the Gods mission where Goku and his friends are told about the power tournament on the prison planet where they face a fierce enemy Cumber, who they manage to defeat and find out about the secrets of the prison planet and the powerful enemy who controls it.
But let’s not get into the specifics here, but if you want to know more about the story check out Dragon Ball Heroes Canon list.
Final Thoughts about Dragon Ball Heroes
So, before you dive into the Dragon Ball Heroes, here are a few things that I think you should consider before getting into the series. The anime adaptation of the game is considerably fast-paced than all the other dragon ball series that you have watched previously (assuming this is not your first rodeo) and with that said the series is more action-packed with awesome fight scenes, which also takes me to the last point that I have already mentioned above, this story doesn’t primarily focus on the story-line but rather takes a comical approach which if you have played the card game, you would love it!
